The 2015 annual meeting of Chinese Domain Name Consortium(CDNC)took place in Taiwan from July 9th to 12th. CDNC members and representatives of the Chinese community participated in the meeting, including China Internet Network Information Center(CNNIC), Taiwan Network Information Center(TWNIC), Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited(HKIRC), Macao Network Information Centre (MONIC)and Singapore Network Information Centre(SGNIC). As the main CDNC initiator and an active promoter of Chinese domain, CNNIC delegation attended the meeting under the leadership of Xiaodong Lee, Director of CNNIC.
CNNIC was elected as director unit at the conference. At the same time, new co-chairs and co-secretaries of CDNC were elected. Researcher Qian Hualin, expert of CNNIC Steering Committee, and Shian-Shyong Tseng, Vice-president of Asia University and Professor of National Chiao Tung University, were reappointed as co-chairs. Ning Kong of CNNIC and Ai-chin Lu of TWNIC were appointed as co-secretaries.
At the meeting, the participating parties fully discussed many topics, such as the Chinese domain name technology and application progress, the next generation WHOIS protocol, DNS privacy protection protocol and DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) deployment status. According to the research situation, at the meeting it was decided to set up a working group to promote the application of Chinese domain name and mail address internationalization (EAI). Co-secretary Ning Kong will serve as the convener of the working group. Later, member units will send representatives to participate in the working group and promote the Chinese domain name and EAI application.
Introduction about Chinese Domain Name Consortium(CDNC):
In 2000, Chinese domain name consortium (CDNC) was set up in Beijing by four NICs around the Taiwan Strait, which are CNNIC, TWNIC, HKNIC and MONIC. It mainly takes in charge of the coordination and regulation about Chinese domain name around the world, and has played an important role for the delegation of “.中国” into the global root zone system. Till now, CDNC members convene meetings regularly every year, and conduct exchange and cooperation in the fields of Internationalized Domain Name (IDN), Email Address Internationalization (EAI), IPv6 and DNSSEC. CDNC is an organization open to the international community, and any individual or group at home and abroad, who is interested in the Chinese domain name and has relevant professional knowledge, can apply to be a member of the organization.
